Project scope
The project involved a comprehensive upgrade of a building with a Low NBS (New Building Standard) rating of 30%. The focus was on strengthening all 12 units while maintaining 70% of the units occupied. The owner, Peebles Group, hired us to do the entire project from start to finish.
The repair and strengthening required the following:
- Relocating tenants to fully strengthened and renovated units
- Complete renovation of the building’s verandah
- Installation of a new laser-cut metal facade for the strengthened parapet
- Rendering of old block-faced portions of the front to align with modern standards
- Removal of the entire rear section to accommodate new services
- Installation of a new 6000-liter grease trap with new lines to restaurant units
- Complete rewiring and electrical system upgrade with larger mains and increased amperage
- Replacement of all windows and doors with brand-new black window joinery
- Full interior and exterior painting
- Upgrades to meet current accessibility and fire compliance standards
The conclusion
As a result of our efforts, this building upgrade project was transformed to meet modern standards. The project maintained 70% occupancy during construction while achieving significant structural improvements. All units now meet current accessibility and fire compliance standards, ensuring a safe and compliant environment for all tenants.
